Transport to/from the different areas of West Java is good and getting around is never too complicated. I have included only information on getting to/from Bandung as there is limited information available on services connected to other areas and it is therefore suggested that you ask for more updated information at your hotel or a tourist information centre on arrival.

Air Travel The city of Bandung is connected to the Indonesian capital Jakarta and some other places in Java by air. The airlines that connected Bandung with other cities are Merpati Nusantara Airlines and Bouraq. Husein Sastranegara Domestic Airlines is situated just outside the city limits. Bandung's airport, Husein Sastranegara is located about 4 m from the city centre. The taxi fare to/from the city and the airport is about 10,000 Rp.
Taxi The taxi service in Bandung is not as good as in Jakarta. Most taxi drivers don't drive on the meter and before entering a taxi you must negotiate the price, ask your hotel or guide for an indication of this before you set out. The taxi drivers almost never have change, so take small banknotes with you to pay for the fare.
Buses are a cheap form of transportation in and around the capital of Bundang and are available in other areas of West Java too.
Car Rental is also possible. One can rent a car with a driver for a few hours or a day. This is an easier way to get around the city and visit the tourist attractions around Bandung. On Sundays and public holidays it is always very busy on the road in and around Bandung, so better to make your travel plans for other days.
Train Transport The best way to reach Bandung from Jakarta is by train. The beautiful scenery that you come across on the way is unforgettable. It takes around three hours to reach Bandung from Gambir Station in Jakarta.
Minibuses provide the most extensive service in Bandung and can be hired through the hotel you are staying in on arrival or when required.
Angkots are another form of minibus that run set routes within most west Java cities. These are an excellent way o get about and the services are cheap, only costing between 300 to 600 Rp for most destinations.
Becaks have almost disappeared from central Bandung but can be found in other areas and are a good, cheap choice in transport as long as you have time on your hands.
Jakarta

West Java
